The restaurant Sra Bua is located on the south side of the luxury hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin. Not only do mouth-watering odors of Thai-Japanese fusion waft through the rooms of this gourmet palace, the interior design is also elegantly exotic. For Tim Raue, who has two Michelin stars to his name and is among Germany’s top chefs, Sra Bua is a dream come true.
Raue wanted the interior of his restaurant to reflect the menu: Pan-Asian and of the highest quality. For that reason, he opted for 24 works from limited edition art gallery LUMAS, all of which were produced by hand at the WhiteWall lab in Frechen.
Tim Raue places great value on the smallest details, which is what sold him on WhiteWall’s mounting: “You can see the outstanding workmanship that goes into the pictures. All of the pieces are ‘Made in Germany’, which gives them a regional connection. That is very important to me.”
Raue preferred to have the colorful and powerful pictures mounted under glossy acrylic glass, saying: “It gives me the feeling I can actually feel the colors and become part of the picture.”
For the more peaceful, black-and-white images, he selected gallery frames with passe-partout mats. “A passe-partout suggests real artisanal craftsmanship – it has to be cut out and fit exactly. That is really similar to what I do. You have to master the craft through a love and passion for it.”
